April 30 Simple Pleasures![]() Simple Pleasures
Each day upon awakening I marvel
At the Simple Pleasures I find
Perhaps I am discerning for the First Time
Through my eyes...
Through my heart...
Through my Spirit...
Through my Senses...
That in Living each day
With appreciation...
With Love...
With Joy...
With Peace...
That the Simple Pleasures
Are the Greatest of Treasures
One can experience
In Life.
April 07 HennyI hung a birdfeeder from the tree outside my lanai and watch the birds feed each morning. The Muscovy ducks come for their share of cracked corn that I spread at the base of the tree and I sit back and listen to their huffing noise as they feed and wag their tails in appreciation. "Henny" a particularly beautiful white faced female Muscovy duck who brought her babies to the lawn, is my favorite. I had been worried about Henny. She had first approached me a few weeks ago with what appeared to be a broken leg or sprained foot. Her mate, "Little Man" stayed close by her, protecting her from harm. Yet he seemed helpless when it came to her injured leg. She could barely walk, and she would hobble or sit quietly for hours and not move with Little Man always near by. When she did move it was with obvious pain. I called a Bird rescue shelter who informed me that if she could still fly (which she could) they would not be able to get close enough to her to crate her and help her. I could however, supplement her feedings by giving her cracked corn. This seemed a good idea to me. At least I would not be sitting helplessly as poor Little Man seemed to do...watching Henny struggle. I immediately drove to Petsmart and bought a large bag of cracked corn and each morning I would feed Henny. Her daily appearances became less and less until yesterday when she arrived no longer limping and with her were her little babies. Her leg was healed and she had managed to hatch these lovely four babies. She hissed quietly to them, a huffing noise as her tail wagged. I am delighted beyond words that Henny is not only healed, but a mother with babies!

Life is a joy to behold ...and Spring has brought it with the renewal ....the birth of Life.
![]() Little Man
Little Man is the name that I gave to Henny's mate. He is a dutiful spouse watching over her. He is a smaller male than "Big Daddy" who literally rules the roost. Big Daddy often chases Little Man making certain that Little Man knows that Big Daddy is the ruler of the kingdom. But when Little Man is with Henny, it is quite another story. Little Man holds his own, not backing down to the blusterous Big Daddy. I have to laugh as I watch them.
