    THe Visit

    The Visit...

Debby and Jordan arrived on United airlines Thursday, stepping out into the warm humid air of Orlando.  I met them at the arrival pick-up drive and we loaded their luggage into the back of the Subaru.  Debby looked beautiful.  My daughter has grown into such a poised gracious woman as she climbed into the passenger seat and sat next to me.  Jordie, my nine-year old granddaughter who talked excitedly from the back seat as we drove to a restuarant to dine on the way home.  We had such a short few days as they would leave on Sunday to return to Colorado in time to rest briefly from their visit here with me before Jordie would return to school on Monday.  So the next few days would be spent filled with sweet conversations and enjoying the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney and exploring the neighborhood.  We discovered a wonderful little restaurant featuring Mediterranean Cuisine named Ali Baba, that was hidden way in a small corner of my neighborhood here in Longwood.  Ali Baba was a great treat with a large Buffet and we sat nestled around a table cloaked in white linen and Debby and I sipped on a Greek beer that was a delight to taste and complimented our buffet dinner perfectly.  The days passed quickly, mornings spent sipping on hot coffee on the Lanai, (Starbuck's Komono Dragon Bold blend) which is smooth and wonderful to the taste!)  readying for a day of adventure in Florida.  We packed much into their three-day visit, and I look forward to their return to Florida.

Cleo Cat loved Debby.  This cat is such an independent cat and Debby is the only person other than myself who she has slept snuggly against at night.  Debby was amazed and delighted.  She, like me, never thought of herself as a "cat person"....but like me, Cleo completly captured her heart.

I could tell that Cleo would have liked to "stow away" in their luggage and return to Colorado ...but of course, at the last moment, she hid under the guest bed (laughing).

Only another month, and I will be flying to Colorado for Thanksgiving and a first look at my Great-Granddaughter Abygail Elaine born Sept 27th, 2008.  Abby arrived a tiny bit early by all calculations, but nevertheless weighed 4 lbs. 15 oz. and is quite healthy.  Mom (granddaughter Christina) and Abby are doing well and of course I am so excited to be seeing them.  I will stay at Debby's and my sons Dan and Don will be in Colorado as well for the holiday.  So my friends, my entire family will be together and I cannot wait.  Dan and family are arriving in Colorado from Michigan, and Don, Lisa and my grandchildren will fly from Florida...This is a holiday I am truly looking forward to.

But for now, just this morning, Cat and I shall be content to sit on the Lanai and feel the warm Florida sun kiss our skin.  I, sipping on Komona Dragon hot coffee laced with cream...lost in my thoughts.

Thoughts of moments gone by....and moments yet to come.

My heart has awakened to life.  Sweet sounds of Life swirl about me as I write this...Kenny Chesney singing softly on the stereo...ahhhhhh Life is good!

    Better as a Memory?

Ahhhhh sometimes a song says it all...
I wonder if I am better as a memory?

30 years ago I met a man I truly cared about...
But, we both had responsibilites at that time
We both had our children to raise
And we both had our spouses to love
So even tho there was that special heated lightning
    that flickered deep within
We walked away from one another.
    He went home to his
And I went home to mine.

30 years later, a phone rings
    And I answer
And the voice from long ago
    Talks to me...
    And I listen.
His wife has walked the stairway to Heaven
    His voice cracks with pain...
    And I listen.

A few months have passed by
    And the phone rings...
    He has flown to Florida
    And we meet...
The lightning sparks bright between us
    And two days pass
    Like yesterday...

    His children have grown
    Just like mine
    His grandchildren need him
    Just like mine
    We speak of our lives
    As we know it now
    He must return
    To those who care
    I watch him leave
    Just like it was then
    And it is now
    Like ysterday

    And I think,
    As I drive home
    To Cat and me...
    To my children
    My Grandchildren
    My two Great-Grandchildren,
    Am I better
    As a memory?
